Spring Show Season!

We are back from Gulf Wars, and what a start to the Spring Show Season it was! Thank you to everyone for coming by to say Hello and to see what’s new! ^_^

Speaking of new items, due to popular demand, I will begin offering circlets and coronets in the shop, as well as more enamel work. I’ve begun working on glass enamel paintings and even some Renaissance-style miniatures, so keep an eye out for those.

Brian is also hard at work on cutting period gemstones for me to use in my work, as well as for other jewelers who want something to add more authenticity to their works.

Currently I have Blackstone Raid on the calendar, and PENNSIC! I am still waiting to hear back about Aethelmearc War Practice and a few other non-SCA events, but you’ll see us around, I’m sure!

It’s 2018! What’s Coming Up?

Hey! I hope you had a great holiday season! We had a wonderful break, visiting family and taking time to rest up and recoup from the whirlwind of holiday events we did. By the way, thank you for supporting us and helping us have another year of doing what we love for a living. We really do appreciate each and every one of you. We’re not huge, and we don’t pretend to be, so we see each share on social media. Every sale, like, share and encouraging word helps us keep doing this, and I can’t thank you enough. And if you’ve not done any of this, don’t feel bad! Seriously, you’re here, right now, reading this post, and that’s helping this site rank higher in searches, so Thank You! I don’t have an Etsy shop because I kept getting ripped off, so this site and social media are the only places I sell things on-line. Thanks for getting me up in the rankings! ^_^

So, what’s coming up for us? Well, in addition to some upcoming shows, I’m going to set up a Patreon very soon (as in, later today). Once I get it looking good and I’ve got things more or less sussed out, I’ll post a link and scream it from the hilltops. Show-wise, I have one confirmed SCA event happening in March – Gulf Wars! I don’t have any hard details like what spot I’ll be in, but we’ll be there. I also have applications going in for a few local craft shows in February, and I’ll let you know once they’re confirmed. January is the slow month for us, so I’ll mostly be concentrating on getting all of the chainmaille from the Renaissance Faire and the new items I made over the holidays up on the site. Right now, I have things set up so that a new item appears every morning, so check back every few days to see what there is!

Speaking of new, Here’s the latest piece of silver that I’ve put up. Isn’t is gorgeous? I love labradorite so much, and this piece just glows, it has such a strong fire in it. Click on any of the pictures if you want to snag it before I decide to keep it for myself.

Well, that’s all for now. If you have any ideas of what I can offer my patrons, please comment and tell me your idea! If it’s feasible, I’ll probably use it.

Talk to you alter, and thanks again. ^_^

Pennsic is Coming

Pennsic is Coming GoT meme

IN TWO WEEKS!

AAAHHH!!!!

So that’s the good news, along with the fact that I’m back in the workshop and working furiously to make all the things.

The bad news?

That Pennsic is in two weeks and I’m working furiously to make all the things.

I have to make dozens more Dragon Pins, lots of rings, gemstone pendants, and holy cow, do I need to get to work on some Tudor pieces. Lots of work in the upcoming days, but I am UP for it!

“But Bran,” you ask, “What is Pennsic?”

Pennsic, my friend, is two weeks of glorious escape from the mundane world! We camp in a medieval pavillion tent, wear our wonderful garb every day, fight on the field of battle, compete in tournaments, sample delicious food and drink from long ago, sing songs of glory and honor, attend Court in all its spendor, shop (or in our case, sell) in the marketplace, go to classes to learn about the ways of the past or to teach others our skills. When the sun goes down, there are parties, grand balls, drinking, bellydancers, fires, and over everything the sound of drums.

Pennsic, for us, is home.

If you’ve never been but it sounds like your idea of a great time, head on over to SCA.org and see what’s up! For a good time, go to YouTube and search for Pennsic videos. GoPro videos of battle are particularly fun. Also, feel free to contact me on social media or in the comments, and I’ll answer all the questions I can about the SCA. It’s a great hobby!

Blackstone Raid 2017

We’re back from Backstone Raid and we had a wonderful time!

Aside from manning the booth, we participated in much socializing and mead drinking, which is something we haven’t done in a very long time. Brian cut a gemstone after one of the stones in the Cheapside Hoard, and entered it into the Arts & Sciences Competition. He won Queen’s Choice and Baroness’s Choice! Our friend Anthony (AKA Albrecht) won an Onyx award for his service to the barony in general, Chatelaine duties and his tireless efforts to help things run smoothly for everyone he ran across.

There was also a nasty storm that we thankfully survived with no problems, but several tents were flattened, incliding some fellow merchants. Lukcily there was lots of help on hand to help with immediate damage control and packing the next day. Brian also got to play some music in court, which is something he’s been wanting to do for a long time.

I also took a bunch of pictures, so here they are!

Blackstone Raid XXVI – Coming Up!

Blackstone Raid is happening this week! We’ll be in West Virginia, and looking forward to seeing a bunch of our friends! ^_^

Lemony will probably spend some time fishing, and otherwise running about and enjoying herself. Brian will be fencing and compete in the Torchlight Tournament. I’ll see if I can go sit in on some classes. I dont have anythign specifically made for the A&S tournament, so I’ll probably sit this one out. Brian might submit a gemstone, though.

Although this is technically “work” for me, I always look at Blackstone fondly. Blackstone is full of firsts for us. It was our first SCA event. It was the first time I ran into someone who had not only read a book I had, but who said she loved it. Brian got to fight. I won an award for my art. Lemony got to try fishing. People understoond what I was doing with my art and they GOT IT.

So this weekend, even though it’s technically work, it feels like we’re going home.

Do you want to join us?

Blackstone Raid is Coming!

Yep! There’s a month until Blackstone, which means I have a month to make things. Is there anything you’d like to see? Seriously, aside from helping Brian sell books at Steel City Con this coming weekend (look for me in the Artist’s Alley with books!) I’ve got plenty of time to get some jewelry done.

What I have planned:

  • MOD Medallions
  • Get some Bronze to etch (So, bronze medallions)
  • Antique finish medallions
  • A ~fancy~ award medallion. Not sure which, we’ll see
  • A baronial coronet (or two)
  • More etched cuffs
  • MAYBE a finished Queen’s Rapier Champion Pin

That’s a pretty good list, but that’s a lot of etching and I’ll need something to do while that happens. Leave me a comment if there’s anything you’d like to see!Save

New in the Shop – SCA Award Medallions

I’ve often been asked for Award Medallions, and they’ve been on my two-do list for a loooong time. During Gulf Wars, I was approached by several people looking for medallions that were nice, but not too fancy. Ones that they could wear on the battlefield, stick on their hat, or wear out socializing. Medallions that they wouldn’t be scared about dinging up, and that were at a price that wouldn’t sting if they lost it.

I listened, and I debuted them at the Donnan Party this past weekend. They’re $20, come in two styles, and are available in either brass or copper. So far I have Pelican, Laurel, and Aethelmearc Populace badges. I plan on adding more awards and kingdoms to the list in the future. Click Here to see them.

If you’re dying for a specific badge, let me know and I’ll bump it to the top of the list!

Happy 2017!

It’s 2017! I hope you had a great holiday. Ours was… A little crazy, but we’re fine. Any by crazy, I mean four days of over a hundred mile car rides and the power steering giving out on McKnight, but I digress. We’re fine, and we had fun seeing our families and going to the little one’s first violin recital. It was adorable.

But what’s in store for 2017? Well, aside from planning for our future brick-and-mortar, we’re confirmed for Gulf Wars, a massive SCA event down South in mid-March. We also have an event coming up this weekend, the Winter Food Truck-a-Paloosa!

It’s indoors on the 7th at the Monroeville Convention Center, so you don’t have to worry about crappy weather ruining your food. There’s also going to be music, kids’ activities, and a craft market set up, which we will be a part of! I’m really excited, because this means delicious food trucks that I normally can’t get to at outdoor shows. I’m either stuck alone in the tent and can smell them, whch is torture, or they’re so far away I have no idea what’s there and I don’t know if I can eat it or not, so I usually don’t bother.*

Mac & Gold truck, I got you in my sights. Same to you, Oh My Grille. I’ve not seen Billu’s Indian Grille, but if it’s got chicken vindaloo in it, it’s got my money already.

So, hungry yet? Join us this weekend at the Food Truck-a-Paloosa for some delicious local food! Tickets are only $10, and the proceeds benefit Monroeville Volunteer Fire Department #6.

*Fun Bran Fact – I have an intolerance to mammal meat. I react just like someone with lactose intolerance. It sucks, but I deal. Just gotta watch what I eat. Luckily, there’s PLENTY I can eat on Saturday.

New Pin Boards for SCAdians and Reenactors

Do you like Pinterest? I freaking LOVE Pinterest! There’s so much to do, to see, and to learn on there, it’s insane. And it’s because of that insanity that I’ve decided to make some resource boards for my fellow SCAdians and reenactors. So far I have these:

Click the name to go to the board. I’ll be adding more in the future, so follow me on Pinterest to stay in the know.

Is there a board you’d like me to make? Let me know in the comments!
